The National Archives of Scotland, housed in HM General Register House is one of the finest public buildings in Edinburgh and, having recently been refurbished, it is now available as an exciting new event venue. Designed by the distinguished architect Robert Adam and located in the heart of Edinburgh, it contains one of the largest and most varied collections of archives in the British Isles. The majestic building is stunning and provides historic spaces for dinners, receptions, weddings and meetings.

General Register House

The National Archives of Scotland consists of two fantastic event spaces which can accommodate up to 160 guests.

Adam Dome, General Register House The breathtaking Adam Dome with its sweeping gallery, soaring dome and intricate ceiling plasterwork is a beautiful backdrop to any event.

With magnificent views of Princes Street and Edinburgh’s North Bridge, the Lord Clerk Register's Room is a splendid venue for a range of gatherings. The ornate fire place and picture windows make this a unique space in an exceptional location.
No event would be complete without exquisite food and drink. Whatever you are looking for, we can guarantee that it will be cooked to perfection and presented with flair.

ScotlandsPeople is a partnership between the National Archives of Scotland, the General Register Office for Scotland and the Court of the Lord Lyon. The ScotlandsPeople service provides easy access to digital images of the key Scottish family history resources, including over 60 million birth, marriage and death records, wills, testaments, census records and Coats of Arms. This resource can be made available as a unique experience for your guests to enjoy during your event. Why not include some time during the drinks reception for guests to search the register and make a start on assembling their family tree.

However you choose to tailor your event, you are guaranteed a magical occasion in magnificent surroundings.
