News: Scotland's Census 2011 - Release 1B of results

Release 1B of results from Scotland's 2011 Census is published today on the Scotland's Census website. These statistics provide estimates of the usually resident population of Scotland and each council area on census day, broken down by five-year age bands and sex, together with estimates of the number of households in each council area.

From today, the Scotland's Census website will include two interactive data visualisations to aid understanding and interpretation of the statistics.

1) A mapping tool - to illustrate spatially the age profile of the population, and the change in these between 2001 and 2011, by council area

2) A population chart comparator tool - to illustrate differences in the population age by sex profiles between different areas and between 2001 and 2011

Release 1B follows on from Release 1A which occurred on the 17th December 2012 and presents further information on the first results from the 2011 Census. Subsequent releases will provide unrounded data, at lower levels of geography, and also results of the many other questions which were asked on the questionnaire.

More information on the census release timetable can be found in the Outputs Prospectus.
