News: Diamond Jubilee Exhibition

National Records of Scotland (NRS) present hitherto unseen documents from our archives in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The documents offer a uniquely Scottish perspective on the Queen's reign and provide an insight into her special relationship with the nation that Her Majesty describes as occupying "a special place in my own and my family's affections". The free display can be seen in HM General Register House, Edinburgh, 9:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday from 1 June until 22 September 2012.

Shortly after her Coronation at Westminster Abbey, the Queen spent a week in Scotland and attended a National Service of thanksgiving and dedication at St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh, on 23 June 1953. The Moderator of the General Assembly captured the moment: 'Today you and I are Scotland, greeting with all that we have to offer of love and duty our gracious young Queen'. It is in that same spirit that these documents look back over the past sixty years of the Queen's reign revealing an insight into Her Majesty's ancestral, constitutional, traditional and personal relationships with Scotland.
