News: Wallace letter returns to Scotland

Culture Secretary, Fiona Hyslop, announced today (12 January 2012) that the letter believed to have once been in the possession of William Wallace has returned to Scotland. It is now on long-term loan to the National Records of Scotland after an agreement was reached with The National Archives in Kew.

More information can be found on the Scottish Government website's news release.

At the same time, she confirmed it will go on display to the public this summer at the Scottish Parliament, alongside the famous Lübeck letter. Presiding Officer, Tricia Marwick MSP, announced today that this unique exhibition will run from Friday 10 to Friday 31 August 2012 in Holyrood's Main Hall. It will be developed by the Scottish Parliament in partnership with the National Records of Scotland. For more information on this see the Scottish Parliament media centre website.
